Widespread Panic returned to Red Rocks last night for the second of four consecutive shows at the iconic venue in Morrison, CO. Red Rocks is known for its scenic location, but also for the massive storms that roll through the area. One such storm enveloped Red Rocks during last night’s second set leading to a 24-minute delay before the band came back and finished their 40th consecutive sold out show at the historic amphitheater.
After opening with “A of D” on Thursday, Widespread Panic started last night’s show with “B of D.” The first set also included covers of “Sell Sell” by Alan Price and the Grateful Dead’s “Cream Puff War.” The second set opened with the fan-favorite pairing of “Disco” and “Diner.” Later in the set, “Chilly Water” referenced the weather moving in and following a cover of “Heaven,” the band cleared the stage for the aforementioned weather delay. Once the weather moved out, Widespread Panic returned to end the show with staples “Space Wrangler,” “Ain’t Life Grand” and “Fishwater.”
Friday night’s show was broadcast as a pay-per-view special and a LiveWidespreadPanic.com webcast. Some cable providers cut out of the live show before the encore, leading some fans to miss the group’s cover of “Many Rivers To Cross” by Jimmy Cliff. Widespread Panic returns to Red Rocks tonight for the run’s penultimate show.
