Gov't Mule Welcomes Bill Evans And Nicki Bluhm & Gramblers In Danbury

GOV'T MULE OFFERS GUEST-LADEN SHOW AT IVES CONCERT PARK

Last night at Ives Concert Park in Danbury, CT Gov't Mule brought out a slew of guests at various points during the two-set affair. Over the past few years guitarist Warren Haynes has become close with legendary sax man Bill Evans, who has sat in with not only Mule a bunch but also with the Allman Brothers Band.

At Sunday's show, Evans emerged at the end of the first set for "Sco-Mule" and returned during the second set for covers of "The Shape I'm In" by The Band and Traffic's "Low Spark Of High-Heeled Boys." Bill stuck around for Ray Charles' "Drown In My Own Tears" which also featured Nicki and Tim Bluhm, Steve Adams and Dave Mulligan of opening act Nicki Bluhm & The Gramblers.

For the evening's encore, Warren Haynes and Co. teamed with special guests Bill Evans and Dave Anderson for a special experiment in honor of venue namesake Charles Ives that featured bits of "Sad & Deep As You" and "Afro-Blue."
