SYMPHONIC TREY IN OUR
NATION’S CAPITAL LAST NIGHT

Last night Phish front man Trey Anastasio performed with the esteemed National Symphony Orchestra at the historic Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Anastasio mixed classics from both his solo and Phish repertoire over the course of two sets and an encore.

Big Red stuck mainly to material he’s performed with symphonies in the past, most recently during his first and only symphonic tour from early last year. “Frost” off Anastasio’s most recent album, Traveler, was performed with an orchestra for the first time. While “Time Turns Elastic” has gone missing from Phish setlists, he played it with the NSO on Wednesday night. The highly composed tune seems to work best in its original format as performed by Trey and an orchestra.

Trey dedicated Brian and Robert to his friend and songwriting partner Tom Marshall before launching into a lengthy “You Enjoy Myself” that capped the second set.

Here’s the setlist from last night’s performance:

Set One: First Tube, Frost, Divided Sky, Let Me Lie > Goodbye Head, My Friend, My Friend > Guyuye > My Friend, My Friend, Water In The Sky, Stash

Set Two: Time Turns Elastic, Brian & Robert, You Enjoy Myself

Encore: Inlaw Josie Wales

Watch Trey and NSO perform “You Enjoy Myself:”

Next up for Trey are festival appearances with the Trey Anastasio Band at Summer Camp and DelFest.
