SACRED STEEL MEETS NEWGRASS IN NEW ORLEANS

The New Orleans Jazz Fest might be best known for funk and Cajun music, yet The Crescent City will get a taste of newgrass this weekend. Michigan’s Greensky Bluegrass are set to play The Parish @ House of Blues New Orleans on Sunday night and have just announced they’ll have a special guest perform with them. Lap steel specialist Roosevelt Collier will jam with Greensky Bluegrass during their Sunday night gig.

This won’t be the first meeting of the minds between GB and Roosevelt Collier as they’ve performed together in the past. We fondly recall the pairing’s take on Paul Simon’s “Gumboots” from the 2012 All Good Music Festival.

Greensky Bluegrass is in the midst of a three-week tour that visits the Visulite Theater in Charlotte this evening.
