Toubab Krewe Fall Tour

Toubab Krewe Announces Fall Tour

Toubab Krewe
After spending much of August in the studio working on their next album, Toubab Krewe will hit the road for an extensive tour this fall.

The run continues with several shows in the Northeast, including a date at the Knitting Factory in New York City on October 6. The band then turns south for sets at the Shakori Hills Grassroots Festival and The Echo Project in Atlanta, an innovative new festival integrating environmentally sustainable practices.

A highlight of the tour is a special Halloween run that takes Toubab Krewe from Magnolia Fest in Florida to the Voodoo Music Festival in New Orleans, where they will also play late night shows at the Maple Leaf and Howlin' Wolf. The band celebrates Halloween night back home in the Carolinas at the Visualite Theatre in Charlotte. Toubab Krewe stays close to home in November, finishing out the tour with several shows in the Southeast.

Toubab Krewe brings it in an organic, pulsing way I don't think a lot of other groups out there that I'm aware of (Fela Kuti, but he's not usually around very often) can bring it. Bonnaroo Thursday night in 06 they're set was just awesome, one of the best sets I've ever seen, for what that's worth

These guys are fucking great, and some of the most quality individuals I've ever known in my life. If you want to see some great music with the satisfaction that you're supporting really good guys, go see em. This is badass, they're essentially coming to Boone twice this tour, Trade Music Farm is just down the road. Lovin' life right now.

Toubab is good. There are other great afrobeat(afropop) bands out there that you can catch : Seun Kuti(in my opinion is better than Femi), Veux Farka Toure, Toumani Diabate, Konono No.1. Then we have the American versions of Afrobeat(afropop) which Toubab is: Chicago Afrobeat Project, Antibalas, Budos Band, Nomo. All of these American bands tour extensively so keep a lookout for them!

They are ok, nothing ground breaking, but please do not use them in the same phrase as Fela, Femi, Seun or any other of the dons of afrobeat....this would be like comparing Bob Marley to your local "good" reggae band.

I agree the toubab krewe set on thursday at the roo in 2006 was absolutely amazing. I caught them again the next day at the acustic stage and was similarly blown away. Now I catch these guys whenever I can.

These guys are awesome. Saw them for the first time last year, and man do these guys bring awesome energy. The Handlebar didn't stop jumping til the wee hours of the morning and everyone was dancing all night!! Can't wait to see them again. I'm so glad I live close to Asheville and get to experience all of these great local bands. If you havent' seen Toubab get out there and see them on this tour. I guarantee you will love it!!!

theivywall, if ya like organic stuff and are into Fela and Femi check out Aphrodesia at These kida are from the Bay Area, are very, very political, very very conciouuss and a hell of a lotta fun to rage with. They are also the first white folk to ever play at the famous Shrine (home of Fela) in Nigeria. they are also the only band in the lst five years that actually wore me out so much I couldn't keep dancing. Check 'em out and keep grooving
