Debut Solo Album In Stores July 10 From New West Records

Jason Isbell
Los Angeles, CA – No stranger to life on the road, Jason Isbell, formerly of the Drive-By Truckers (DBT), embarks on his first solo headlining tour in support of his debut solo album Sirens Of The Ditch. Justin Townes Earle will open the shows for the first part of the tour with Centro-matic taking that spot beginning in Denver. The North American tour starts off in Athens, GA followed by Atlanta on July 10 with dates in major cities including Boston (7/16), New York (7/19), Seattle (8/01), San Francisco (8/4), Los Angeles (8/6) and Austin (8/14.) There are also preview shows in Little Rock, AR (6/20), Memphis, TN (6/21) and Chicago (6/22).

. Isbell and The 400 Unit, his band of hometown Muscle Shoals, AL musicians -- Jimbo Hart, Ryan Tillery, Browan Lollar -- recently appeared on dates with Son Volt, where, according to the Boston Globe, they delivered a "superbly crisp 45-Minute set of powerful anthems..."

Sirens Of The Ditch, recorded at legendary FAME recording studios (Aretha Franklin, Duane Allman, Otis Redding) in Muscle Shoals, is out July 10, 2007 from New West Records. The album rocks with 11 tracks all written by Isbell kicking off with "Brand New Kind Of Actress," followed by "Down In A Hole," a swampy number featuring Muscle Shoals natives Spooner Oldham and David Hood. Isbell's songwriting skills shine especially on "Dress Blues" a pensive ballad about a high-school classmate who lost his life fighting in Iraq and "Chicago Promenade" a tribute to his late Grandfather.

Through a special program with iTunes called Complete My Album, users can buy "Brand New Kind Of Actress" now. The purchase of the song will be credited to the purchase of the album on July 10.

JASON ISBELL KEEPS TRUCKIN' SOLO
Sirens Of The Ditch
Debut Solo Album In Stores July 10 From New West Records
U.S. Tour Kicks Off July 9

Jason Isbell
Los Angeles, CA -- Accomplished guitarist and songwriter Jason Isbell, formerly of the Drive-By Truckers (DBT), releases his debut solo album Sirens Of The Ditch, on July 10, 2007 on New West Records. Elements of rock, blues and soul are evident in the 11 diverse songs, all penned by Isbell. From the rock driven opener "Brand New Kind Of Actress" to the tender "Dress Blues" Isbell's gift for song writing and striking lyrics is apparent. Listeners caught glimpses of Isbell's skills on DBT records with tracks like "Danko/Manuel" and "Outfit."

Sirens Of The Ditch's mystical quality can be partially attributed to the FAME recording studio (Aretha Franklin, Duane Allman, Otis Redding) in Isbell's hometown of Muscle Shoals, AL where the album was recorded. "A lot of old soul musicians came through here in the late '60s and '70s and helped define the Muscle Shoals sound," the lifelong Alabamian explains, "so that influence was always in my environment, but on this record I really tried to capture that."

Co-produced by Isbell and Patterson Hood (DBT), Sirens Of The Ditch features Isbell singing lead vocals and playing guitar throughout, joined by Shonna Tucker (DBT) on bass and Brad Morgan (DBT) on drums. Several musicians pop in for cameos including Spooner Oldham and David Hood (Patterson's father) on "Down In A Hole," John Neff (DBT) on "Dress Blues" and Patterson himself guests on "Shotgun Wedding."

Isbell and his band of Muscle Shoals musicians recently appeared on dates with Son Volt, where, according to the Boston Globe, he delivered a "superbly crisp 45-Minute set of powerful anthems..." A U.S. tour is planned for this summer kicking off July 9 with preview shows in Little Rock, AR (6/20), Memphis, TN (6/21) and Chicago (6/22). Additional dates will be announced soon.

Hate to see him leaves the Truckers but glad to see him making good on his own. As much as we'd love for him to stay with the Truckers sometimes it's time to move on for a little personal evolution. Hope he swings thru the Asheville area. I missed the last time he played solo in the area (with Shonna and the Dickey Betts band).

I'm just glad that his album is FINALLY coming out and I will see him somewhere this summer.
The DBT will still rock on, as Jason and the 400 Unit will too.

i honestly thought he gave the truckers a lot more variety when he was with them. i like them without him, but its back to just patterson and cooley banging away again. one less person to finish the whiskey bottle i guess. hope he does well with his solo work.

I noticed Jason got mention in the truckers myspace bulletin. Very strange breakup, but it's cool that the feelings aren't that hard.
