GRATEFUL DEAD RELEASE LEGENDARY ALMANAC
AS FREE DIGITAL APP ON ITUNES

For decades, the venerable Grateful Dead Almanac has been a vital resource for Dead Heads to keep up to date with the latest developments with the band. At its inception, the Almanac was a printed direct mail piece sent out to Dead Heads worldwide. Over the last few years, the Almanac has evolved into an online only publication, available at dead.net, and this year makes another technological leap into the app world. The Grateful Dead Almanac App is available now as a free download on the iTunes App Store and features audio, video, and other cool embellishments in addition to the traditional essays and updates from Dead luminaries.

The launch of the Almanac App coincides with the November 1 kick-off of the annual 30 Dead of Dead. Every day throughout the month of November, a previously unreleased, high quality (320 kps) soundboard recording of a live track will be offered as a free download on dead.net for one day only. The band’s archivist Dave Lemieux hand-picked each of the 30 career-spanning tracks from the Dead’s extensive vault. Now in its third year, 30 Days of Dead has fast become a fan favorite event that honors the spirit of community embraced by the renowned tapers that documented the band’s concerts and traded them freely with other Dead Heads.

Additionally, subscriptions for the 2013 Dave’s Picks series are now available exclusively at dead.net. Launched in 2012, Dave’s Picks follows the legendary Dead archival series Dick’s Picks and Road Trips and presents high-quality recordings of previously unreleased complete live shows carefully selected by Lemieux along with rare photos, in-depth liner notes and HDCD sound quality engineered by Jeffrey Norman. All four editions of the 2012 series are completely sold out and anticipation is high for the 2013 line, which will kick off in February.
