say what you want about moe or any other band sucking. the fact is that moe. actually cares about its fans and comes up with cool things like this contest to let their fans show appreciation and have a hand in creating the moe. brand.

you don't see other bands in the scene doing things like this (giving free sdb's, letting you film shows) for their fans especially the big hitters.

Oh, I don't know about that my man. I am defiantly not a hater who tends to put bands down all the time, but Umphrey's is so explosive and insane for me not to think they are the best thing going. Moe is an awesome band and i love what they do, but Umprey's is he best thing going.

moe., panic, phish, umph etc. All are unique and have their own sound. It's like comparing oranges to apples. It's crazy how many people getting all worked up comparing bands.... if you LIKE it, ENJOY it and leave the hatin' to douchebags....

amen H2O....props to moe. for givin back to their moerons.....time and time again......id like to see any of these haters give a fraction of what these bands do night in and night out......on the road months and months out of a year....and trust me.....its defintely not done for the love of $$$.....or so that their fans can say theyre better than the other.....specially since most of the bands mentioned have shared the stage together on countelss occasions and provided numerous memorable experiences....thanks to everyband that gives soo much back to their loyal followers

These negative post have always made me wonder why one would do that. Why click on a link to read about a band you hate? I do not understand why people get so pissed off about music. This band sucks, this band does not belong on jambase, . . etc. So saying "Moe. sucks." What was your purpose with that line? Were you trying to piss those off who like moe, trying to show your breadth and superiority of music knowledge? And what are you so great at?

Moe is the worst band i have ever seen play live. I cant beleive that people actually compare them to phish, The bass player could tune mike gordons bass for him...

Hey, moe. is doing something cool by getting their fans invloved and giving away 2 sick festival tickets. Nothings wrong with that. When people do something chill, theres no reason for the haters to burst everyone else's bubble. Most of the bands you guys like (like umphreys and memebers of phish) are gonna be at those festivals. I bet you'll end up going.

ive seen moe. once and umphreys about 6 times, all in chicago, and that one moe. show had more energy than all those umphreys shows combined. Ill admit umphrey's is good but they got a long long long way to go to be in moe.s league

I love moe., but I am a huge Umphrey's fan, when it comes down to it I do dig Umphrey's more. But I once heard a comment made by Al Schnier of moe. saying that when they were starting out he wishes they would've been more like UM., not getting wasted every show and really taking it seriously. And at the same time Umphrey's used to cover lots of moe. songs (before they became competition for moe.) So you see, they're both fantastic bands, and they both have a great deal of respect for one another, they'd never want any of you to be arguing over who's better like this. They have completely different styles anyway!

Oh yeah, good idea with the vids and all, makes me wish I had some sort of video-making skills...get my Summercamp tic for free....

Funkis, moe. is not the shit, hasn't always been the shit and will not always be the shit. Phish is definetly over. But they weren't the best thing around either. First the Dead was king now it's Panic. Don't compare moe. to Panic. There's a reason why Panic has the hardest core of fans following them all over the cuntree. It's not the drugs, or a place to party. You can do that with any band(Cheese, Umphrey's, bloe.) Just like the Dead, Panic are beyond unique. Just like the Dead, Panic are the best touring band of their time.
The bottom line of the whole story is. There was nothing like a Grateful Dead concert. Period!! Never will be. Now there's nothing like a Widespread Panic concert and never will be.
Umphrey's, moe. it's all the same shit. That gives acid heads something to get off on because the Dead and Panic are too dark and deep for any moe. fan.

Panic doesn't do it for me. The one time I saw them, some jerk flicked a cigarette on my girl and sneered at me. Lovely. I wouldn't say that the band was bad but I wouldn't pay to see them again or their asshole frat boy fans. Sometimes one experience like that can ruin any chance of liking a band.

moe. is one of my favorites. Those guys are all talented and their jams can be amazing.If you check out youtube now there is already a cool video of Chuck Garvey playing one of the new songs acoustic at some radio station.

Harry, I agree with most everything you said except the last sentence, but please keep Panic on the highroad. Why bring Panic or the GD into this pathetic pissing match? Just laugh at it. It just makes you and other Panic freaks look like the rest of these fools. Each to his own, it is music, lighten up. Who are you trying to convince? Some 20 year old college kid that already thinks their band is the greatest in the world, good luck!

UM is a great band, Phish was great, WSP is rocking, and STS9 ( I'll just keep my mouth shut), and none of these bands have anything to do with Moe or this article.

I think it is halarious really. Moe will get hours of entertainment out of this.

I'm just with Jerry Joseph on this whole Jamband scene nowadays. Watch Widespread Panics DVD "TEWSY"(The Earth Will Swallow You) and listen to Jerry Josephs opinion of these so called "Jambands" around now.
If you don't know the quote I'll give you a little taste.
"What I don't like about the so called "jambands" these days is that they went to a Grateful Dead show. It was a sunny day in Palto Alto. There were pretty girls around and Bob Weir sang every song(hmm can you say Stringcheese). And those bands walked away with the light. And what I always liked about the Grateful Dead was they also a dark side. You had the Hells Angels and drug overdoses. That's what made that band so great is there was the dark and the light. Umphrey's is generally very dark......Cheese made a completely dark album talking about death and whatnot....and The Dead hated the Hell's Angels....why do you think they booked out of Altamont?

Where in that statement does it say the Dead liked the Hell's Angels? It says nothing about the Dead liking the Hell's Angels. Jerry Joseph stated that they had Hell's Angels at Dead shows. Before you make a comment read the post. And the Dead actually liked the Hell's Angels at first. It was Bill Graham who started banning the Angels and turning the Dead against the Angels.
By the way Umphrey's and Cheese are not dark. When you go to there shows it's like going to Disneyland.
The only thing dark about Cheese is there feet after the show.

I might be too cool and hip for all of you but I never said I knew it all. I just know that bands like Stringcheese turned the so called jam scene into a kiddie fest. I go to a Cheese show and I feel like I'm at a 6 year olds birthday again. You can get your face painted, balloon animals, bob for apples, pin the tail on the donkey.
I go to a show for the music and good people not to eat birthday cake and blowout candles while clowns jump around.
Any band who encores with Michael Jackson's "Beat It"??? Please come one Cheese you're trying to hard.

Hoood7: My point is that there is so much talent out there, philosophies and approaches are so diverse, and taste is so subjective. If SCI, or Moe., or Umph is too corny in your mind [I agree, Cheese's "Beat It" encore pick sounds awful], that sucks, but they are just limbs on this towering Redwood tree of a musical community. They will not take the edge off of Panic's trip, no external influence ever will, and that is valuable, I believe. Cheers Hoood7!
