About The Tony Tyler Band
If you are looking for funky grooves splashed with sky-high slide guitar work with a pop hook and ripping fiddle, look no further. The Tony Tyler Band brings to the table every music fans dream, leaving no taste untouched. Pulling from influences spanning the musical gauntlet, this group is an all out genre bending assault. Rooted in funk Ala George Porter and The Meters and Derek Trucks with John Mayer-like pop hooks and fiddle stylings that will make you say “Charlie Daniels who?”, The Tony Tyler Band is quickly rising among the “who’s-who” of concert goers nation-wide.
“When you grow up around Macon, GA it’s almost a sin to not play the guitar.” says 23 year old front man Tony Tyler. He has been seen along side of many industry legends such as The Temptations, Martha Reeves and The Vandellas, members of The Allman Brothers Band, The Marshall Tucker Band and The Derek Trucks band, as well as powerhouse drummer Tony Royster Jr of Jay Z fame, just to name a few. Building the TTB name over the past 11 years has not been an easy task. While still a teenager, Tyler got a taste of the music industry first hand when he hired William Perkins (Allman Brothers Band road manager) to represent him as his personal manager. By the time he was 15, he had been hired by two different national super groups that floundered due to matters beyond Tony’s management teams control. While kids back home were struggling with puberty, Tyler was grappling with a music industry that continued to disappoint him at every turn. Tyler eventually relocated to Sarasota, FL where he has found the success that has dodged him all these years.
“I am absolutely thrilled to be teamed up with some of the best players I have ever worked with.” Tony says of The TTB. “I took the Duane Allman approach and figured everybody in the band has to be better than me, and lemmie tell ya I have found the dream team.” Holding down the fort on drums is none other than the funky drummer himself, James Varnado. You have seen him tour the world with music legends such as Dickey Betts, George Porter Jr, Porter Batiste & Stoltz and Charmaine Neville just to name a few. The New Orleans native delievers a punch that will leave you breathless! Dani Jaye, by far the prettiest thing to ever touch a fiddle, brings a style all her own. at 21 she is already a veteran of the road, touring for 5 years with “GACs Next Big Star” winners One Night Rodeo. With a fiddle style hearkening Charlie Daniels matched with funky guitar work, Dani adds a flair to The TTB that is unmatched. Rounding out the band is Sarasota musical legends Charlie Whitt and Todd Cook. Charlie leaves his guitar smoldering and Todds rumbling bass grooves has the listeners pumped up again and again.
