About The Greatest Funeral Ever
The Greatest Funeral Ever started in early 2007 under a different name and a different genre. The Greatest Funeral Ever used to be named “COLD STEELE,” and was an 80’s cover band that only played songs with the name Danielle in the lyrics. An unfortunate accident in Jan 2008 left the band without a singer. This, and the odd invite to play the dead singer’s funeral, led to one the most eye-opening, life-changing, euphoric events in their lives. It was at this funeral that the remaining four members of COLD STEELE realized they shared a much deeper connection than just 80’s music; that they shared far more than a can of Aquanet. They discovered that they shared the love of the art of improvisational music. Being put in an awkward spot and in front of an extremely stiff crowd, COLD STEELE realized they couldn’t play any of their songs without the singer.
Minutes passed….they would have rather been in that casket than standing there in front of it. Faintly, the keyboards started twinkling a melody, guitar followed in key. The bass came in with an underlying funky pop. And the drums brought it together. 5 minutes into the jam, the congregation became quite the lively audience. Chairs were kicked back, flowers knocked on the floor. Hell…even the dead guy was dancing. The rest is history…. this was, in fact, The Greatest Funeral Ever.
