Back in September the news broke that AEG Live’s Goldenvoice division, the team behind Coachella, was plotting to bring a new festival called “Panorama” to New York City this summer. While the original report had the festival taking place in Queens, NYC Parks Commissioner Mitchell Silver turned down AEG Live/Goldenvoice’s petition so the event will now be held on Randall’s Island July 22 – 24.

“We look forward to bringing Panorama to New York City and introducing a new festival that showcases today’s top music acts. We’re committed to creating an event that will provide significant benefits to New York City with the level of experience and meticulous attention to detail for which Goldenvoice is known,” said Mark Shulman, Festival Producer at Goldenvoice, in a statement as per Billboard.

While the formal announcement of Panorama didn’t include any details on the lineup, Consequence of Sound reports LCD Soundsystem will headline the event. You may recall CoS originally broke the news LCD Soundsystem would reunite. Panorama will take place at the same site Governor’s Ball will be held seven weeks earlier. Governor’s Ball representative Tom Russell of Founders Entertainment isn’t happy with the news of Panorama and told Billboard, “We’re very confident our lineup and proven track record will draw a great crowd to Governors Ball this year, and our experience with the festival site allows us to put on a great event for music fans. But this is a short-sighted and disappointing solution. The city needs a long-term strategy for approving music festivals that ensures it is maximizing the economic and community impact of these events. Scheduling two same-genre festivals on top of each other like this makes it difficult for either to provide the maximum benefit to its fans, its neighbors and taxpayers.”

Stay tuned for more details on the first-ever Panorama Festival.
