Acclaimed news program CBS Sunday Morning has been working on a profile of JamBase favorites My Morning Jacket for years, literally. The feature’s host, Serena Altschul, interviewed the band for the profile way back on December 14, 2011 at Madison Square Garden just before MMJ took the stage in front of a capacity crowd. This morning, CBS finally aired the six-minute feature, which includes footage from MSG and from an interview that took place this past spring.
Altschul examines why My Morning Jacket has found success and what differentiates the band from other acts. There’s a particularly sweet moment when Altschul presents front man Jim James and drummer Patrick Hallahan a photo of the pair from their grade school days, showing how long and deep their friendship goes.
