What do you get when you cross the iconic New Orleans sound of The Neville Brother’s Charles Neville with a Senegalese Kora player and high energy, reggae heavy drummer and bassist? Grammy Winning Charles Neville (of the legendary Neville Brothers “The Kings of New Orleans” - Conan Obrien) and Grammy Nominated, gold record earning Youssoupha Sidibe and The Mystic Rhythms. Their performance encompasses the diaspora of West African music and culture. Bringing together the sounds of blues, jazz, Caribbean music, and African music with a strong reggae sound. This includes the development of African music in the new world from French colonization of Louisiana. Charles Neville, being one of the most prominent of the 4 Neville Brothers, has toured all over the world with the Neville Brothers performing at massive arenas. Over the course of his career he has performed for more than one million people, not including television performances. His unique saxophone melodies can be heard in hit HBO shows such as Treme and in the theme song for one of the most respected shows in history The Wire. 'Fiyo on the Bayou' is listed as one of Rolling Stone magazine’s 100 best albums of the 80’s LINK. Keith Richards thought the Neville Brothers' Fiyo on the Bayou was the best album of 1981. Charles and The Neville Brothers toured supporting The Rolling Stones playing for hundreds of thousands of people. The Neville Brothers performed their final show at The Hollywood Bowl in 2012 and now Charles often tours internationally with his brother Aaron Neville. Youssoupha Sidibe, was born in Senegal, West African, and is well known for his virtuoso Kora playing as well as collaborating with a slew of amazing musicians ranging from Matisyahu, with whom he received a gold record and Grammy nomination, to India Arie, and String Cheese Incident.
