"Noah Bendix-Balgley Plays Bruch" Program Mendelssohn: The Hebrides Overture, Opus 26 Bruch: Scottish Fantasy for Violin and Orchestra, Opus 46 Schumann: Symphony No. 4 in D minor, Opus 120 About This Performance Praised by the Post-Gazette during his 2011-2012 conducting debut for his “graceful” baton work, Nikolaj Znaider returns to the Heinz Hall stage. Joining Znaider onstage, PSO Concertmaster Noah Bendix-Balgley performs Bruch’s virtuosic Scottish Fantasy – a bravura treatment of Scottish folk melodies. Kodály was similarly inspired in composing Dances of Galánta, paying homage to the traditional music of his Hungarian hometown. The concert closes with Schumann’s romantically inspired Symphony No. 4.
