Show Info

Bloodshot Records’ acclaimed recording artist, Deadstring Brothers, will deliver a very special performance this Saturday, March 2, at B Side Ballroom and Supper Club, 1 Clinton Plaza, Oneonta. Locally-born band, Esquela, will warm up the evening. Both bands will perform live, and both plan to spin selections from their upcoming, new albums, before the show, and in between sets. “Cannery Row,” Deadstring Brothers’ 5th album, will be officially released by Bloodshot Records on April 9. The album was recorded in East Nashville during the AMA’s, when some of the finest players around were available to record with Deadstring Brothers’ front-man Kurt Marschke (vocals, guitar), and Jeremy Mackinder (bass). Cannery Row includes performances by Brad Pemberton on drums (Ryan Adams and The Cardinals, Bobby Keys) backing vocals by Kim Collins (Smoke and Flowers), Mike Webb (Poco) on organ, piano, mandolin and squeezebox, Pete Finney (Dixie Chicks) on pedal steel guitar and dobro, and Mickey Raphael (Willie Nelson, Elton John, U2, Neil Young) on harmonica. Cannery Row was done completely “analog,” Mackinder explained. “No computer touched the vinyl version of this album, at any point. Bovina-based ‘roots with soul’ band, Esquela, has recently completed their new album, as well. The official release event for “Are We Rolling?” is scheduled for Fri June 15 at Bowery Electric, NYC. The new album was produced, and recorded (largely), by Eric “Roscoe” Ambel (Ryan Adams, Bottle Rockets), and was co-written by Keith Christopher (Homemade Sin, Georgia Satellites, Billy Joe Shaver), who has written for the likes of the late, great, Ray Charles. Esquela features vocalist Rebecca Frame, and guitarist Brian Shafer (John Scarpulla Band), with John “Chico” Finn (co-writer) on bass/vocals, Todd Russell on drums/vocals, and Matt Woodin on guitar and mandolin. Are We Rolling? follows Esquela’s first album, The Owl Has Landed, which received strong reviews and international airplay. Visit for more info.
