Saturday, May 18 Blue Mother Tupelo & Various Artists at the Jimmie Rodgers Festival BMT performs at 7:00 pm Jimmie Rodgers Festival, Singing Brakeman Park, Meridian, Mississippi (MAP) Blue Mother Tupelo is honored to be joining Rodney Adkins and other fine music artists to remember and celebrate, "The Father of Country Music"/"The Singing Brakeman"/"The Blue Yodeler" also known as Jimmie Rodgers. The fest takes place at Singing Brakeman Park. Advance tickets available at Kids 12 and under free admission. No pets allowed. Contact Richard Ferguson (601.416.1630) for more information About Jimmie Rodgers Rodgers and his group arrived in Bristol, Tennessee/Virginia on August 3, 1927, and auditioned for Ralph Peer, a representative of the Victor Talking Machine Company, in an empty warehouse. Peer agreed to record them the next day. That night, as the band discussed how they would be billed on the record, an argument ensued, the band broke up, and Rodgers arrived at the recording session the next morning alone. And Jimmie Rodgers recorded the first Country Music recordings in Bristol. Blue Mother Tupelo's performance at the Jimmie Rodgers Festival is dedicated to Ricky Davis's Uncle Bus Tankersley who used to go to Bristol to sing and carouse with the likes of Jimmie Rodgers and The Carter Family. Uncle Bus taught Ricky's Dad and Uncles how to sing & play Country music and guitar. Price Info: $12.50
