The 48th Annual Monterey Jazz Festival Presented by MCI will once again feature many of the top names from the world of jazz, as the Festival has done since its inception in 1958. This year's line-up offers a taste to please every palate, with stars like John Scofield, Christian McBride, Mavis Staples, DJ Logic, Madeleine Peyroux, Carla Bley, Joey Calderazzo, Claudia Acuña and others appearing on the Fairgrounds. All in all, over 500 artists will perform on 7 stages for 3 nights and 2 days of the world's longest running jazz festival, September 16 - 18 in magnificent Monterey, California.

Grounds Tickets are priced in advance at $30 for Friday, $40 for Saturday or Sunday and $95 for all three days. Grounds Tickets include daily access to all Grounds concerts, events and activities on 6 stages spread throughout the Monterey Fairgrounds, plus simulcasts of all Arena concerts in The Jazz Theater.

 
FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 16
John Scofield "Uberjam" Band Stephen Perkins Carla Bley
Friday - "New Grooves Party" in Dizzy's Den will have fans shaking, bouncing, grooving and moving in the aisles. This year's headliners are John Scofield "Uberjam" Band and Festival newcomers Banyan featuring Stephen Perkins (Jane's Addiction), Mike Watt (Minutemen), Willie Waldmen (Tupac Shakur), Nels Cline (Wilco), Norton Wisdom and special guests Herman Green and Calvin Newborn.

Friday - on the grounds - Jacqui Naylor Quartet opens on the Garden Stage at 6:30pm, followed by Berklee-Monterey Quartet 2005 and Jay Collins Band. Benny Green & Russell Malone return to the Starbucks Coffee House, while Donny McCaslin Band, the Lost Chords with Carla Bley and Steve Swallow, and John Handy Quintet light up the Night Club.

SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 17
Mavis Staples Miguel Zenôn Sharon Jones
Saturday - grounds performances will feature music legends and up-and-coming artists in a variety of groups and settings. The Festival's Garden Stage will present a trio of powerful vocalists: gospel star Mavis Staples, Oakland-based soul songstress Ledisi, and heavy-hitting funk singer Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings. O-Maya, Miguel Zenôn, and Claudia Acuña add touches of Latin, Afro-Cuban and South American jazz to the Saturday grounds schedule.
SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 18
Madeleine Peyroux Christian McBride DJ Logic
Sunday's schedule sees a Monterey debut with vocal sensation Madeleine Peyroux taking the Garden Stage for an intimate grounds performance for festival fans. Christian McBride Situation performs on the grounds in the Night Club featuring pianist Patrice Rushen and DJ Logic, followed by a repeat performance with John Scofield featuring Steve Swallow and Bill Stewart. The Denny Zeitlin Trio featuring Buster Williams and Matt Wilson showcases intricate piano trio work in the Starbucks Coffee House.
