...the biggest summer music festival of the year in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Roanoke, Virginia. The all-day music festival on Sunday, July 11, 2010 features Derek Trucks & Susan Tedeschi, Southern Culture On The Skids, Mountain Heart, New Riders Of The Purple Sage, Bebop Hoedown and Cyrus Pace & The Roanoke All-Stars.

In addition to music, the festival will feature a crafters village, an interactive kids’ world, natural food vendors, free parking and rest, shade and mist tents. (

Music Lab Photo *Proceeds from DOWN BY THE RIVER, will support the Music Lab at Jefferson Center, a state-of-the-art facility where students in grades 6-12 have the opportunity to explore the craft of music through instruction and hands-on experiences in music performance, recording and the music business. In addition to the mentoring students receive from the Music Lab staff, they also have opportunities to participate in once-in-a-lifetime experiences with the internationally recognized musicians who perform in Jefferson Center’s concert series. Music Lab students have had the opportunity to learn from Wynton Marsalis, Snarky Puppy, Rene Marie, Christian McBride, Nikki Glaspie, Jason Marsalis, John Ellis, Natalie MacMaster, and Charlie Hunter.
