Drop
Trio is an instrumental band from Houston, Texas.
They've been playing original music all across the southern
United States, releasing two critically acclaimed studio
albums and garnering plenty of honors en route (among
them, Houston's "Best Jazz" and "Best
Funk" titles, and showcases at South By Southwest).
Drop
Trio fits loosely in the "funk" & "jazz"
categories, but steers clear of the standard fare. With
no guitar, no singer, and a big dose of free improvisation,
Drop Trio is just as likely to let loose with an airtight
prog-rock composition in 15/8 as they are an acid jazz
groove.
