Tickets On Sale Monday March 4 @ 10:00am

Monday, February 11, 2013 (Scranton, PA) – Today, Cabinet, in conjunction with Live Nation, announced the first annual OLD FARMERS BALL to play Toyota Pavilion at Montage Mountain on Saturday, May 11th. This inaugural festival promises a brilliant collection of Americana, roots, bluegrass and folk artists sure to rouse music lovers of all ages, tastes and persuasions. Enhancing the musical aspect of the festival, OLD FARMERS BALL will stay true to its name and offer an honest to goodness farmers' market as well as a host of vendors to keep fans occupied all throughout the day.

Celebrated sons of Northeast Pennsylvania, Cabinet has long outgrown the “local band” label while remaining loyal to their regional fans. The six piece bluegrass / Americana outfit has been busy touring the United States to promote their fourth album, Leap (Ropeadope Records), and won't have played in the greater Scranton area in half a year. This return to a local venue is a highly-anticipated homecoming and is expected to bring fans from far and away.

Cabinet is a band with roots firmly planted in the Appalachian tradition. They wear their influences like badges, honoring the canon of roots, bluegrass, country, and folk, weaving these sounds into a patchwork Americana quilt. But this music isn’t romanticizing or rehashing the past. Cabinet makes it mark on today. The steady aim of their harmonies soar straight onto target each time, the soaring vocals giving voice to the story of each song. Their music takes the long way home, treating its listeners like passengers on a ride through scenic back roads. Their live shows are inclusive, celebratory, and community-building. Everyone will want to get on the wagon with Cabinet. Members Pappy Biondo (banjo, vocals), J.P. Biondo (mandolin, vocals), Mickey Coviello (acoustic guitar, vocals), Dylan Skursky (electric bass, double bass), Todd Kopec (fiddle, vocals), and Jami Novak (drums, percussion), all live and love music, and their polished sound belies their young age.

No strangers to the festival stage, the band has performed at many great festivals (CMJ 11, SXSW 11 & 12, Musikfest 10 & 11, Floyd Fest '12, Peach Music Festival '12, Philadelphia Folk Festival '12 to name a few) and venues across the land, sharing the stage with the likes of Yonder Mountain String Band, Allman Brothers, Pokey LaFarge, Yarn, Delta Rae, Zac Brown, Infamous String Dusters, Railroad Earth, Rusted Root, Hoots & Hellmouth, Blackberry Smoke, Hot Buttered Rum, Cornmeal, Dark Star Orchestra, Keller Williams, Hackensaw Boys, 7 Walkers, New Riders of the Purple Sage and many, many more.

Tickets go on sale Monday, March 4 at 10am and will be available at Ticketmaster.com, Toyota Pavilion Box Office (1000 Montage Mountain Road, Scranton, Pa), Ticketmaster Outlets or by-phone at 800-745-3000.

From the News page:

Cabinet, in conjunction with Live Nation, cordially invites you to the inaugural “Old Farmers Ball” at the Toyota Pavilion at Montage Mountain (Stage B). Join us on Saturday, May 11th, as Cabinet, along with seven other artists handpicked by the band, deliver eight unique musical sets from 3pm - 10pm, including between-set performances from festival emcees Coal Town Rounders. Every act on the bill has shared the stage with Cabinet in the past, including Yarn (Brooklyn, NY), Holy Ghost Tent Revival (Greensboro, NC), MiZ (Scranton, PA), And The Moneynotes (Scranton, PA), and Kyle Morgan (Harrisburg, PA). The festival also includes a solo set from Cabinet’s own Pappy. The presence of so many members of the extended Cabinet family in the lineup virtually guarantees an evening of special music and guest appearances. Further enhancing the festival experience will be local/regional craft and food vendors, concert poster gallery featuring several renowned artists, silk screening demonstrations, and a seasonal farmers market. So come celebrate this homegrown festival and help make memories at the inaugural “Old Farmers Ball!”

The $15 early bird tickets are sold out, but at the moment there are still a few $50 VIP tickets left... no service fees... http://www.oldfarmersballfest.com/tickets

***TICKET UPDATE*** Posted today on Facebook:

OK folks. We're releasing one LAST round of NO FEE Early Bird & VIP Tickets today. One catch. We need our FB likes to get up to 400 before we release. What do you say? The sooner we get to 400, the sooner the tickets go up. Pass it on.

They currently have 363 FB likes and the Old Farmers Ball website is currently undergoing maintenance... give 'em a like, and keep checking back!

And here's the ticket link: http://cabinet.bigcartel.com/

PS: The first round went VERY fast last Monday, so don't miss out! Only $15 for Early Bird and $50 for VIP, with NO FEES... awesome deal! And by the way, the ticket site currently says sold out, but that's from last Monday... keep checking back...

they didnt go that fast, they were available for a few hours.

Well they released some extras then so the sales kinda stretched out, but still that's pretty fast, imo. My point being they're limited in number, not by sale date.

Again, the 1st Annual OLD FARMERS BALL festival, hosted by Cabinet, will take place Saturday May 11th at 2pm at the Toyota Pavilion at Montage Mountain in Scranton PA. The plan is to use the small stage in the grassy area outside the entrance, however in the event of inclement weather or if they sell a ton of tickets, the main stage in the pavilion would be an option for them. Please note, there will be special food & drink pricing for this event, as well as a seasonal farmers market, a host of vendors, concert poster art, a photography gallery, and a kids fun area. And once again, the fantastic musical lineup is:

Cabinet • Yarn • Holy Ghost Tent Revival • MiZ • And The Moneynotes (Reunion!) • Pappy (solo set) • The Coal Town Rounders • Kyle Morgan (solo set)

Now that spring weather is starting to kick in, I'm really getting psyched for this fest!

It's a great lineup at a great price... see my post above for details on both.

Anybody else planning to be there?

4/7/2013 11:16 PM

^ Kinda funny that I happened to post that at 11:11. For those who may not know, Cabinet has a DVD/CD titled Eleven, as it was recorded on 11/11/11. Cue the twilight zone music... lol...... :P

The six piece bluegrass / Americana outfit has been busy touring the United States to promote their fourth album, Leap (Ropeadope Records), and won't have played in the greater Scranton area in half a year.

^ Wow, the spammers are getting creative... that first paragraph IS actually about Cabinet... the cheap gold links are NOT.

So... who's planning on this fest? Saturday May 11th in Scranton PA. Great lineup at a cheap price!

5/11/2013 01:37 AM

Can hardly wait for tomorrow (technically today), meaning Saturday, May 11th. Everybody I know is going to be there! =)

NOTE: It was decided on Friday that due to the weather forecast (plus the fact that they sold a ton of tickets), the WHOLE FEST is being moved to the main stage under the pavilion. Everything is general admission of course, and the first 15 rows of seats have been removed so there's a pit. This is gonna be GREAT! =)

VIP gates open at 1pm, GA gates open at 2pm, and here's the band schedule:

And don't forget, your ticket gets you into the official afterparty at Backyard Ale House too.

Let me try that band schedule link again......
