Mandolin :)

I recently received a mandolin as an x-mas present and HAVE YET to really try it out. :( I used to play fiddle awhile ago and figured the mando would come easy. I am having a hard time finding chords on the internet (figured I would). Does anyone have any suggestions? I am used to guitar chords also so is there an easy way to convert these chords to mandolin?

thanks! :)

Depends on what you're playing a little, you can try this page:

http://www.mandolincafe.com/cgi-bin/chords/ch.pl?chord=G

(of course select the chord you're looking for)

You get a simplified chord, a full chop chord, and some trickier up-the-neck chord that may or may not be useful. mandolincafe.com is a great hangout for learning mandolin, finding tabs, etc. Somewhat folk/bluegrass oriented but they have other stuff too.

If you're a fiddler you will feel at home. I guess the new part is to practice the tremolos and cross picking techniques. And yes, you don't hold the mando under your chin :D

I went mandolin for the band I am in now, The Eastside Five because there were already two guitars... its been great fun learning a new instrument in a band setting. It does take some work though! Check us out.
