Getting Festival Gigs

Hi Folks, I'm in New England, and was wondering if anybody knows about smaller festival gigs that might be happening this summer. My band has been together for a couple of years and want to play the festival scene, but most of these festivals listed here seem out of our reach. Thanks!

Yeah, those were the "out of reach" festivals I was talking about. I mean- I don't see our band playing a set along side The Dead- but surely there are smaller festivals out there??? Maybe not. Thanks for responding!

It's not hard to get a festival gig. Just become friendly with the guy running it.

Most festivals start booking headliners a year or so in advance and other acts anywhere in between. It's best to contact them earlier then later. Look over each festival's website before submitting to see if there's any guidelines they have. There should be plenty of festivals in reach for you. I'd definitely look them over again. Good luck!

You could still get into some of the smaller later season fests. Get a decent EPK set up and start asking around. If this is your first time around you probably aren't going to get any great set times but you might pick up something. Don't expect to make money right off the bat. It's worth it just for the experience. They'll probably work out a deal where you make money by selling tickets. Have fun.

michigan has a few smaller festivals during the summer months. it might be kind of a haul for you to get to MI from NE, but if you're willing to travel that far, they're worth checking out. i have a few connections...if you have anything on the net or something you can send me to listen to, let me know.
