R.I.P. The underground scene just lost a monster.

This makes me very sad. I trust his death will be mourned my friends, family, and fans. I hope his life is celebrated in equal proportions. He was a gift.

Eyedea reinvigorated my love for hip hop in the year 2000. This guy was a genius and will forever be a source of inspiration for my own artistic endeavors. So so so sad. Eyedea is by far one of the most prolific poets in the underground scene.

I once met a man who trained himself not to dream.

What he seems to have seen was a glimpse of everything.

He's been painting pictures on canvas since age thirteen.

And claims he only exists in the mind of a higher being........

.....It was only to witness his dead body laying on the cement

At first it freaked him out, but after a while he grew content

So he thought, "It's just a dream," and kept living his life

Writing his soul on the canvas 'cause it sheds his planet light

And it goes on and on like space and time, ain't nothing odd.

It's not that he didn't believe, he just didn't approve of God.

His experience was one I couldn't comprehend.

'Till I stopped being detective and listened to him as a friend.........

Void (internal theory)

.......I said I wouldn't sign shit, 'cause I don't want to meet the devil

But I lost my mind, and I'm trying to find it in the dimension of space

between bass and treble.

Shattered is my existence, in so many pieces I can't count

Chatter is the substance that comes from most people's mouth

Matter is what you don't to me, he don't to she, we don't to we

But hopefully we can gather together and figure out what life's about

Patterns, of emotion change shape from different situations

Lanterns, shed light on the dark side of imagination

Scattered, is good and evil, through various people and areas of the ego

But we know we can be peaceful with the right participation

Now batters, stay behind the base and get ready for the pitch

Rappers mold their soul into plastic and get filthy rich

The ladder to paradise is infested with parasites

And if you don't ride in the carriage right, you would swear that life's a bitch.

Nothing gets you nowhere

But everything gets you somewhere

One pair of shoes is great compared to two feet trying to run bare.

This is a sad day for me as well... Eyedea was a huge influence on me as a teenager. He was hands down the sickest freestyle rapper that I've ever heard, and an insanely talented battle rapper, but none of that compares to the written lyrics on his albums. He had such a deep mentality almost all the time... You can almost feel yourself get absorbed by his voice... atleast thats how i feel...

Now I'm upset that I never made an effort to see him live... I dropped out of the hip hop scene around 2003 and I know I missed quite a few chances to see him perform in my hometown.

This is a sad sad day. RIP Oliver Hart.

Wow, I am stunned. So sad, so young. A huge loss for Twin Cities Hip Hop & music worldwide.
