Whoa now, that must have been a real treat for the band. Hopefully they'll start doing more original material..? Or maybe Further will start covering THEM! haha

If DSO is a cover band then so is Furthur to an extent.

Wow, thoughts and words did not match up there, lets try this again. If you think DSO is just a cover band and Furthur isn't, then I would be confused. Just because they have two original members doesn't mean they aren't playing someone else's music for the majority of the time. DSO sounds more like the Dead than Furthur does by a longshot and plays with much more energy

Further is a cover band so was the Dead last year, thats why they didn't call themselves Grateful Dead. Dark Star played at the Wescott lastnight...$35 man. 35 bucks to go to a bar no bigger than my high school cafeteria and see a coverband? No Thanks! Recreating old Dead shows is no doubt impressive but 35 bucks is ridiculous. Don't get me wrong i love DSO they are damn good but come on it's not like they're doing original material. not only did Grateful Dead play these songs hundreds of times but Dark Star has been playing the same songs hundreds of times themselves. They just play them in the same excact order the Dead did 30 years ago. Love DSO and look forward to seeing them at any festy i can, just not worth $35 to see them play by themselves...

Furthur is a total snooze-fest. Saw both them and DSO at allgood and DSO completely blew them away. The energy that first night DSO created was incredible.
For anyone doubting this have a listen. The music speaks for itself.
