JamBase Questionnaire: Cornmeal
With a boffo new live album and an ever-growing fan base, Cornmeal is a major force in the modern string band scene. Bassist Chris Gangi lets us pick his brain…

I think that Jambase will have to ask a member of the Stones the same questionnaire to get a different answer to the 12th question.

Yea, I like his answer to the Stones/Beatles question. I never understood the appeal of the Stones.

Was that lamb marinating in a delicious sauce in that bin?

The Beatles made fancier albums but the Stones would blow them off any stage on the face of this Great Green Earth. None of the Four hold a candle to the vibe rolling through Keith Richards. His sound IS Rock and Roll (thank you too Chuck Berry).

Right on, Joxley. If I have to give an objective, purely critical answer, I'd say the Beatles, but if we're going off personal preference - sign me up for the Stones without a thought.

As for the poor sheep, that sounds like something right out of Borat...

This is my favorite:

I always find the coolest audiences in…

My mind

To me, the question Beatles or Stones has two dimensions. If you ask me which I prefer to listen to, it depends on the day and on my mood. If you'd ask me which is the better band, I'd have to say the Beatles for reasons already mentioned above and by Chris in the interview.

Dig Cornmeal, great band. All you Stones-bashers, there is nothing more rock & roll than the Beatles. They define Rock & Roll swagger and attitude. Tough to compare the two, they are both the best in the game at different things. And agree with Chris that Backyard Tire Fire's new record Good to Be is awesome.

I just saw "Cobra" starring Sylvester Stallone 1986. Best bad 80's movie ever. Also, the Beatles did make exceptional albums and songs but they couldn't hold a candle to the Stones or Cornmeal live!!!

I think it is hard to judge the live quality of the Beatles, since they didn't play live. When their music started to become really interesting they stopped going on the road, who knows how cool their shows could have been. But then we probably would be left with fewer songs and studio recordings...
