Sad news. It's unfortunate that the first narrative paragraph in italics seemed to blame his death on the U.S.'s healthcare system. As a successful musician i would think that Vic could have probably afforded any prescriptions he might have needed. Thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

Vic, thanks for being so bold while you were here, to share what you shared and to live how you lived. You wrote some of those most picture painting lyrics I ever heard, I am a glad I had and still have the chance to revisit the paintings you wrote. Watch out St. Peter Vic Chesnutt coming through...TEN FEET TALL!

Vic owed a ass-load of money for medical bills. He was well known but doesnt look like he was making the big bucks. Success can be measured in many ways though. So yes he was successful but couldnt afford to pay his debts.

What a shame, what a shame. Vic certainly played his final hand as a tortured genius.

Saw the Panic last night and wondered how they must feel at the loss of someone so close and who must have meant so much. They played a nice Aunt Avis as a tribute although nothing was said. The Panic just roll on; too bad Vic wasn't able to do the same.
