the album's been out for a while, but it is still nice to see it reviewed here. interested parties should note availability on vinyl with beautiful sleeve and gatefold artwork. if you don't know these guys, check em out, preferably in person. some good live recordings are also now posted to the internet archive, and the holy open secret is a phenomenal album. i liked it the first time i heard it, but i like it more every time i hear it. some say it doesn't stack up to the last record, but i'd say it isn't really apples to apples and that's fine. go find out for yourself; you'll be glad you did!
