les,

you're a crazy-talented, genre bending, grab bag of weirdness.....and i love you for it. but, damn it man, you've gotten lazy/lackadaisical with the music you put out the past few years. your shows have become so formulaic and boring (yes, even with the cello)......d's diner>some other over-played song>southbound pachyderm tease>random banter>whamola jam.....i get it, and i'm over it. your set at rothbury was the 'worst' set of the fest for me. please, please, please shake some things up and bring the freakfest.....here's to hoping.

sincerely, 21mmer

ps- before i get attacked......yes, i'm aware that les has had lots of projects going on the past few years (book, movie, music, etc.). perhaps he is spreading himself too thin, to the point where quality has started to suffer. and i've been seeing les since the mid-90's, with basically every group he's formed....and, in my opinion, it's been downhill since the fancy band.

21MMER, I agree with you 100% on everything you said. The fancy band shows are pretty much the same show night in and night out, and to be honest, the last really good claypool show I saw was in 2006 at the Vic in Chicago, the night before Primus played Lollapalooza. He played stuff I'd never heard him play before, and brought Tim and Lar on stage for a litte jam session. I also agree with you that the Rothbury set was pretty shitty this year. LENOX-I agree with you as well, I didn't really like whales and woe too much, and I REALLY don't like fungi at all. I think it all started going downhill once Enor left the frog brigade, and Les put Gabby lala on salary, which don't get me wrong, she's a very talented musician, but please Les, bring a fucking guitar player back on stage, I promise you won't regret it. I hope CCBBB comes back around sometime soon, or at least something new that isn't the same show over and over again.

chidodger....right on....we're on the same wave-length with this one. the post-enor/non-primus claypool can't sustain my interest. that 2006 vic show wasn't bad (strangely enough, i have the autographed setlist hanging on my wall)......primus at rothbury 2008 was raging!

Les is getting old. Not saying he doesn't have it anymore.

sure Les does'nt employ the use of the electric guitar in his stage show, but he does'nt need too. he's already playing it. sure it's actually a bass, but with the effects he uses and the way he plays it at times, it takes the place of the electric guitar.

FLAT5- trust me, I'v seen claypool with brigade and fancy band about 16 times now, and the Frog Brigade(with a guitar) was MUCH better live than Gabby Lala. He is one of a kind on the bass, but.......anyone playing a mean guitar is better than seeing Les with Gabby lala.

CHIDODGER-

I dont know who Gabby LaLa is, but I'll take your word on it. I forgot about Oysterhead. That was one of the most solid things Trey has ever done. Les is cool.
