Devendra Banhart: New Album

What are the necessary qualifications for one to call his or herself a 'gyspy rocker'? Could someone fill me in?

^ an independently thinking musician with unconventional styles who roams from one country or city to another in search of inspiration, styles, and like-minded individuals who may contribute to various musical side-projects with funny names... pretty sure devendra banhart doesn't call himself a gypsy rocker though, it just seems like a mildly fitting loosely interpreted use of adjectives and/or nouns to describe him.

This guy is really good live. Saw him at Broo a few years ago and it was a major highlight. Cripple Crow is his best and I agree with ol boy above (actually all 3; if he called himself a gypsy rocker, that is remotely on the left to me). I also love the description below of the definition as well. Good article and comments.
