I thought it was a phenomenal album. If you see them play those live, you see how good those songs are and no one is left out. And wilco the song isn't out of the blue. That is Jeff Tweedy's humor and love for his fans. Most bands could not do a song with their band name in it. But, Wilco can for sure. This was a very well made album. Also, none of their albums sound the same or have the same sound. They are all very different.

Those of you who comment that you love or hat the new album, Wilco will NOT love you, because you've downloaded an illegal copy for free before it was for sale to the general public. That, or else this site has a lot of critics who got the Press Kit and are making comments.
I haven't heard it yet - but I can't fkn wait! Till 6/30 that is.

A copy of the album made its way to me a bit early and I think it is darn good. More up-tempo and experimental than Sky Blue Sky. A much more diverse selection of songs than SBS which is a great record, but far more mellow overall. Jury is still out, but from the first couple of listens, I like this record.

Just have to comment on a previous comment. This album was par at best and I'm a Wilco fan, but Sky Blue Sky definitely was not a letdown. SBS was incredable!

To Tourfan: the band has been streaming the entire album on and off since May 13th. I've listened to it quite a few times and have pre-ordered it as well. I'm digging the new album as all good albums grow on you as this one does.

I agree with the Nels comment... I think SBS was what it was because of Nels having a more prominent role. He is noticeably absent on this record compared to the previous endeavor.

I have heard the stream of the new album and it did not explode over me like YFH. However, both Ghost and SBS took some time for me to truly appreciate. Like MMJ's, Evil Urges...I think this one will grow...I am off to the Greek on Sat to see em', because WILCO WILL LOVE YOU BABY.

I didn't read the negative review, but I even think this positive one is off. I love the new album, but in no way does it "pick up right where Sky Blue Sky left." In many ways, Wilco (The Album) is a return to the simpler, more straight forward tunes from A.M. SBS is drowning in Nels' solos, while WTA leaves very little room to open up. And Wilco(The Song) divides the line between sincerity and sarcasm in a way that only Tweedy can do, and maybe is best understood when you realize that Wilco existed before Yankee Hotel. If you think you like Wilco(The Album), then you'll really love it when you finally GET this band. Take your time.
