Strange reviews. Reviewing the pgh show as merely average, and discussing this show as reaching "epic proportions" is strange. Although the writer of these articles keeps stressing how he has followed this band for so long, I highly doubt it. The pgh show had divided sky, wilson, tube, YEM, squirming coil, hood, guyute, and loving cup in the SAME show.
and all of the songs were played sell. seriously. wtf?
find someone a little more connected to this band to review these shows. where's gadiel?

Clearly a matter of opinion - as all shows of any kind and any review are - but I've known this author for a while, and Bavosa has been to more Phish shows than anyone I know... i'm not sure how many, but somewhere around 200 and he's been on almost every show this tour. So while you might not agree with his opinions, he is def connected to the band and has some history... anyway...

I was there last night, and this review is spot on.
Just because a show has all the big epic jam vehicle songs doesn't make it a great show.
Last night's second set was on fire, and they could have been playing hall & oates covers, and it still would have been on fire. When the boys are on, the music transcends whatever "song" they might be playing. The "song" is irrlevant in that context.

Fuck yeah! These last two should be fantastic. Fuck the haters.
The best part of these comments are the tools who try to say that the reviewer or someone who made a comment obviously hasn't seen a show this tour or some dumb shit like that, its hilarious.

I was there and enjoyed both sets. The second set was amazing... I have never been sent to my car for a storm delay at a show ever and knowing they were gonna play late for us and that most of us were spending the night and not going anywhere did bring extra excitment...I thought Asheville and Knoxville were the best few shows ( this tour ) until last night. They really seemed to wanted to jam the songs out a little more like they used to. I strongly disagree about the split open and melt in the review, as I remember that was one of the best songs/jams of the first set. Rocking show!!!

Holy freakin smokes! Did you check out that You Tube video. I was at that show and don't remember that... but I have never seen Trey so animated. Pumping his fist at the end like Tiger Woods winning the Masters. That my firends is what it is all about.
Despite many song repeats and jams occasionally falling flat - So glad the boys are back! Top flight kids. Top flight

Very weird show last night. Best lightening I've ever watched from a lawn (out of hundreds of shows over the years) and it was timed perfect a few times. Glow stick war during Fluffhead was followed by the long rain break and the crowd was FIRED UP as was the band for the 2nd set. Sleeping Monkey>Tweezer Reprise and the great deluge capped a strange night at Deer Creek.

Too bad it's now the "Verizon Wireless Center"... not Deer Creek.

decent show....first set dragged on for me, but the second set was a smoker.
oh, the polaris rain-out was in '00....and while the rain at deer creek was heavy, there's no way it can compare to "the nothing".

This show was ok. The Pgh show, with maybe Camden a close second were the highlights of the First Leg. I do not think I can really take what this author has to say seriously for reviews. Especially, when he decribes a rain delay as "epic."
For the old schoolers out there, check out the Pgh show. Pretty cool to see these guys on their game, playing most of their big tunes all in one night, in front of a packed and very responsive house.

Ok i have to post a note here. i just want to say that the review is fine and i always enjoy what someone else has to say about a phish show. look at it like a globe, on one side it is light but the other is always dark. Your watching the same thing its just the perspective thats different. This was my fourth show at deer creek (i know its verizon but always deer creek to me) and i was also at the pitt show the night before. I have to say for me the pitt show was better,(and im splitting hairs here) just because the crowd seemed so into it from START to FINISH. At deer creek it was kind of split. I took my brother to both shows and they were his first and second shows respectively. My brother is a percussionist and was amazed at fish's technique but even he felt the pitt show just had that "something". I loved deer creek, (and we camped) and i have never in my life had to leave like that and it was kind of cool now. At the time it was scarry because there were three tornado's at the Ind. Ill. line bearing down on us. I like phish but at the same time it kind of killed my buzz. When we came back i was very happy with what i heard with the first real warped overlay "jams" of the summer. Before you go crazy ive been to six shows since they came back and yes have only seen 33 shows dating back to 97' but believe that on this tour this show they were having a blast and feeding off the energy. The only thing is i also felt that same way the night before....only more. Pitt was my bros first show and to get to hear jams like YEM, Bowie, Tube, Golgi, Chalkdust, Free, Wilson, Divided,Hood, shoot BIKE! i just have to say it seemed to have more oomph and if that was my first show i would have been psyched. I had to go to like 6 shows before i got to see all those. Now for me to get to see wedge, sleeping monkey, AC/DC, and split at Deer creek was awesome and i loved both shows but i do have to say i think Pitt edges out Deer Creek this year. Thats my humble opinion and thanks to everyone who posts with yours, i always read them and love the diversity of ideas. Go Bills.
