"the band is heading in a new direction, one that takes them closer to fiddle-accented acoustic rock."

- i'm happy they're touring but i'm thinking the new sound is gonna be weak. some of my buddies saw them right after they added the drummer and they said it sucked. granted, they had just lost one of their key members and were still feeling things out, but i have a feeling we're all gonna be longing for the days of the old HBRSB.

^ way to be positive, your optimism shines... i seriously doubt that this band will ever 'suck'. i just saw them at desert rocks and they absolutely killed it.

WAIT! The new sound is STARTING TO REALLY DIAL IN!!! You gotta hear it to believe it....I know why fans were complaining at first, but I just saw three shows in 2 weeks and WOW, things are completely starting to jell with the drummer, its awesome. Whereas to start, the balance of sound was a bit off, and some of the tunes I liked better the old way, now is proving that Matt Butler is adding a special softer more dynamic touch! And the bass is starting to really come out and work with the drums! Things are starting to blossom in a very exciting way. Dont get caught up in the initial reactions to the new set up, experience it for yourself. Its starting to be a new fever that is addictive. The nice thing is sometimes Butler uses the washboard, so it goes back to the old timey sound. Overall dynamics are really starting to work out, and IMO makes Butter more exciting than ever. Check out the new tune "Entangled", which might be the best thing they have ever done.

BTW I have been seeing HBR since 2003 and have seen way over 50 shows, FWIW.
