Janes addiction has a virtuosa guitar player and great songs. NIN bores me. I understand that people like them, but I avoided this tour in favor of seeing Janes alone at wallingford, ct this weekend. I have seen both bands. Trent is really a one b=man band with hired help. janes is a powerhouse rock band that frankly blew NIN off the stage on that forst Lolla tour. Punk rockrs hate compicated song structure, so I am not surprised the preference of such simple music as NIN, but frankly
NIN are not in the same league as Janes

I gotta say that yes, the injury probably affected this show - but Jambase should see them again and re-review. I went to the Merriweather Post show in Maryland the other day, and it was an excellent show. They show a bit of age, of course, but they rocked it out and songs were bursting with energy and wonderful guitar solos and climaxes. The Vimeo video you have on this story blows. Check out my youtube video of the show. I think you'll find they are much more on point and Perry's leg is feeling a little better - http://www.youtube.com/Ryan3481

i'm not a freak, or a pill head travelinlite72. you seem to have a chip on your shoulder against music that you do not like or identify with. if its not your cup of tea, thats cool. just dont hate. there are a lot of other bands out there still performing well past their prime. these people are passionate about their music and dont stay confined to when they were most popular.
i'll agree about jambase seeing everything with rose colored glasses though. they need to be more critical of music, but i guess they help put the word out too so there is a conflict there..

I saw the show in Toronto and Jane's was unreal. Maybe this guy went on an off night? Don't know but Perry's voice was immaculate and the band was amazing.
NIN was good but didn't blow me away. I think it may have been better at the later slot.
Morello's thing was not good, I also felt it was cheese.
IMO

I could go to Portsmouth VA and See Jane's. Not sure after reading this. I had so many great experiences with Jane's over the years. I'm kind of putting my concert buck this summer into unknown bands and other activities like buying another guitar but if I go I will report back. I appreciated the critical review by the way. I wonder if we will get a real critical review on Surprise me Mr Davis or the Slip or any of the bands the site promotes relentlessly.

Anybody who saw Jane's tours of the ep and the first two records knows that Perry is a charicature of himself and Dave is good at being a rock star and that's about it. Couldn't pay me to see them now.
