Set one was like an intimate theater with Trey telling inside stories while set two...

the dog faced boy was not just sung acapella. it was the normal version of the song, with instrumentation.

This review was so poorly written it should be in Rolling Stone. I mean if I hear one more reference to how everybody was ragin during the part in Golgi about having a ticket stub in their hand I'm gonna puke. No shit! People have gone bonkers over that part at every show since the fuckin 90's. I'm really not a hater and don't care how many shows anybody has been to, but this guy just really did not take me there. The other reviewer that just hopped off tour was much better, but that ain't sayin' much. See you bitches at Merriweather.

PS- The Bridge is playing an aftershow at Nottingham's in Columbia after Merriweather. If you haven't seen them they the truth.

The music and lights were awesome. Phish really laid it down. The Asheville Civic center is the worst venue I have ever been to. There is no air flow in the place, it was very hot, a few fans would have made a big difference. Besides the heat and not being able to breath, it was a solid show. Asheville is a great town.

Sigh I really hate I missed this show. I really didn't think I would be able to find a ticket, so I stayed home. I heard the scene was sick though. Can't wait for a fall tour and maybe an outdoor show in Charlotte or something.. And I'm with you Coconut Phil, the Asheville Civic Center sucks. I'm not a fan of that place at all..the sound is just..blah..

i have to agree about the heat and sound issues in asheville. It was so hot in there i almost passed out a couple of times. It was very LOUD in the venue, which isn't a bad thing, but it's almost like they blasted the PA to make up for the poor dynamics of the venue. There was also a very heavy police presence outside the venue and even inside during the first set. I didn't see anyone getting hasseled where i was, but it definately put a damper on the first set for me until i moved above the stage where security was being cool. Overall, asheville was just a special show becuase i have never seen phish in a place that tiny. It's basically a high school basketball arena. They brought the heat to asheville for sure, but the next night in knoxville was just as good, if not better due to the excellent sound, raging crowd, AIR CONDITIONING, and phish, which IMO is back to the tightest i have heard from them in at least a decade. It was that good. I was floored by both shows, but especially knoxville.
