I remember the Yankee Hotel Foxtrot tour and how terrible it was seeing Wilco without Jay. You could obviously tell that there was this HUGE hole in the sound (at least from the 2 shows I saw that tour). Don't get me wrong, I love the current band line-up, and Tweedy hiring 2 musicians to replace Jay spoke volumes to me; but the three albums since YHF don't live up to the whole experience I had with YHF, Summerteeth, or Being There. Jay was one helluva songwriter, musician, and producer. This is a sad day indeed.

Wow, just wow. This is the last thing I expected to see. So sad.

Jay, may the lord bless you and keep you in his bosom. Despite missunderstandings, misgivings you made beautiful music and gave your heart to those who would listen, may the wind say your name, and the rain wash away your pain.

To be fair, Jay had a musical career post-Wilco, releasing five albums, the last of which is available for free & legal download here: http://rockproper.com/jay-bennett/whatever-happened-i-apologize.html
check it out - it's quite nice. RIP jay.

wow, so it would make sense that he was looking at getting something from Wilco because he needed money for his hip replacement. How sad. Another victim, it would seem, of our failed healthcare system. Stand up June 6.
Thanks for the music Jay - see you on the other side, if there is one.
