Looks like a great linup. One word of sincere warning about the location of this festival-If you plan on drinking, inhaling, ingesting anything, then at the beginning of the festival park your vehicle and leave it parked. Don't go near it. Nowhere, anywhere, will you find more mean spirited and aggressive police than the Placer and Nevada Country Sheriffs, the Truckee Police, or even the local CHP, which until recently was the one truly professional force in the area. All function well on the other side of the line that seperates an entity from one that sees itself as a public safety institution versus one that sees itself as an "industry". They are industries , ones very desperate for revenue so use your heads. Particularly after 9pm, where though noone is big enough to admit it, there is a curfew, and where simply being awake , alert , and oriented at night, is suspicious behavior and grounds for being shaken down. Trust me. In Tahoe this is a fact.

I would say that rings true for Truckee, but I have never had a problem in western Nevada County (where I have lived for 30 years) where it is very tolerated, or in tahoe itself. I cant speak for Squaw as I have yet to party there, but in my experience its TRUCKEE and QUINCY that is bad, not Tahoe or Nevada City.

Maybe, all I know is this past winter I went to a bunch of shows in Crystal Bay and the local sheriffs really seemed to have their snouts stuck in in a big way for their cut of the local entertainment market. Too bad about Truckee. I lived there during their ten year transition from a mere ski town/rest area for hiway 80 into a real big uptight police state which is too bad since there is an effort by good promoters to get good music there.

This festival looks terrable- the only redeeming value is the venue- but for that cost, there are so many other good festivals worth going to see. For anyone considering going because of the scenery, take a closer look at the Mile High Festival

$125 for a three day fest, is that really expensive? Man, that seems cheap or at least affordable to me... and shitty bands? What? Spoon, Andrew Bird, BSS, Sharon Jones/Dap Kings - that is not shitty at all - that's actually pretty damn good. Not huge headliner names, so perhaps that's turning folks off, but damn, 125 bones for three full days of music in the mtns, doesn't sound so bad to me.

Kind of surprised not to see more SF bands... -- ALO, New Monsoon, Tea Leaf Green, Hot Buttered Rum....
