Hey Guys,

I'm on a quest to find the best Grateful Dead shows out there.

8.27.72 - Peneta, OR. A show my Aunt just turned me on to at the Old Renaissance Faire Grounds. Great, great show - although I'm missing the end of the show.

What other notoriously good shows are out there? I'm dying to hear them!

February 11 and 13, 1970, Fillmore East

The 11th featured an epic Dark Star>Spanish Jam>Lovelight with Peter Green almost the entire Allman Brothers Band jumping in over the course of an hour until there were 25ish people onstage for the climax.

Each of the four sets played on Feb. 13 is outstanding, but the final one contains what many believe to be the best Dark Star of all time, and rightfully so... the whole second set is on Dick's Picks vol. 4, some of the songs from earlier sets are on Bear's Choice, and the rest is here:

Happy hunting!

DPv1(12/19/73) & DPv14(11/30&12/1&2/73). The playing is HOT! and Donna Jean is on maternity leave.

Wasn't the the Woodstock set cut short due to a major thunderstorm? I know I've heard Jerry and Bobby talk about what a horrible time it was... being shocked by their equipment and something about the stage about to collapse.

I'm diggin the new To Terrapin release at the moment. What I need to find is the 8.27.72 Vaneta, OR recording. I was able to get the first set, but not the second.

Best? There is no "best", but lots of shows better than the trip-fest at Keasey's Farm. The DS is pretty wonderful.

Woodstock? Don't bother unless you are looking for comedy. It was the only shit show they did in 69. The only thing good about that set is Wavy and Phil rambling on while there were bugs gettin worked out.

"What other notoriously good shows are out there?" How long ya' got? Torrent any Dicks Pick or Vault show. In addition, you got your Swing and Ithica 77. I'm partial to lots of 73 and 74.
