Midterms Matter!

I know many Mexican people that are working on or have gotten their citizenship. You should hear how they talk about illegals. It would make me sound like Mother Theresa.

Another point that should be made about day workers is that they are often times taken advantage of by the contractors that pick them up in the Home Depot and Lowes parking lots.

Also, as a consumer I want to know that the contractor that I hire to work on my house is using employees that are bonded and insured.

And yes, I've talked with some Mexicans about illegals as well and you are right, a lot of them are angry with them(illegals) because they are doing everything right and by the book while the illegals are not following the rules. I can understand their frustration. However, at least with the people I talked to, they are mostly upset with the people that don't even try to follow the rules. They understand and empathize with the immigrants that have come here illegally that have tried the legal avenues and been denied.

Yep, the contractors that give them work only make the problem worse. I'm not sure if the contractors are really taking advantage of the workers though. Both the contractors and workers come to an agreement of the wage.

dcdead, It is good to empathsize with people that have it tough, but not making them liable for their actions is another thing.

Illegals would not file a claim because then they are caught. It was good thinking Jim, but honestly (and professionally) that never happens. If the person is legal and uninsured then yes, you better watch out.

It is unfortunate what people can get away with sueing others these days. It makes me sick.

There is a group of 16 illegal immigrants suing a rancher in Arizona right now because he held them at gun point when they trespassed on his land during their illegal migration into the country. They are alleging that their civil rights were violated.

The grass isn't so green on this side of the border anymore and many illegals are leaving. One monetary award by a US court can provide a comfortable living south of the border. What does an illegal immigrant have to lose?

In that case they were already caught so they had nothing to lose. Fucking lawyers are pieces of shit for making a case out of this. These people did not decide to sue the rancher. Some lawyer approached them with some BS about their civil rights being violated and convinced them to sue. That guy did a good thing by stopping and detaining these people and now he is being sued because some lawyer wants to make money. And somehow, sometimes they win.

I think part of the problem comes from not calling them what they are. If your an illegal alien expect to be called an illegal alien. If your a terrorist expect to be called a terrorist not an insurgent or freedom fighter or enemy combatant. Buy calling them day workers you totally dodge the facts. You don't address the fact that these are not Americans and there not even legal workers from Mexico, they are ILLEGAL. So the average person catching the story on the news while fixing supper doesn't get the real story they get the story with phrases they don't understand and they don't have the time or will to investigate on their own. So day worker becomes just a person trying to get a job not an ILLEGAL ALIEN trying to get a job.

Liberals love euphemisms.

Oh right...its just Liberals that like euphemisms...Wow are you blinded by your allegiance...

all politicians use euphemisms and you should be smart enough to know that
