Filo, I hear what you're saying, and part of me wants to agree... yet I just have this feeling about them, sorry.

If they're NOT laughing all the way to the bank and truly believe they're putting out quality material, that might be even sadder.

But they ARE excellent musicians and they DO put on a hell of a stage show, including an awesome electronic/light display. It's just the songs themselves that are weak. But it's not really my favorite genre to begin with either, so...

Thanks for the vote of confidence for Black Country Communion, Filo! Anybody else here familiar yet?

Oh and while we're on the "supergroup" topic, how about Them Crooked Vultures? (Yet another "bird" name, haha.) When I first heard about this band and who it was comprised of, I had high hopes, I really thought I'd like them. However they really did nothing for me, I was disappointed.

Originally Black Country Communion just called themselves Black Country (after the coal & industrial region in England where a couple of the members hail from), but another small band by that name threatened legal action, so they were trying to figure out a new name. I was like "whatever you do, don't pick a bird name, it's so cliche!" Simply adding the word Communion was probably the best decision they could've made... I like the feel of it, and it's fitting.

If Glenn Hughes is involved in it, it is probably going to be good......and considering I had the feeling Them Crooked Vultures would be a venture solely based on an album, and there would be limited to absoulutely no opportunity to ever see them live, then it made it hard for me to really get into that album, though not bad, but it felt like a one off and I have a feeling that is the case.

They aren't all short, but yeah, for the most part the live show stayed close to album versions, Zawada, and you better believe the jammer in me would have loved to have seen Sammy just step to the side on some of the songs and let Satch and the rest of the band just explore or continue a blistering solo, but I kinda knew that wasn't happening. Where that was actually happening at was the guy that opened up for them, Davy Knowles. He fuckin' tore the roof off off the Tabernacle with a cover CSNY's Almost Cut My Hair.

Not sure I'd want to see Satch in a controlled band environment. I'm sure he has fun with the group but not sure 4 minute rock tunes being shared with all the others would do much for me.

Agreed on Satch. I've seen one if his own shows too, and he's better doing his own thing.
