The Paradise Garden Foundation (PGF) will host one of the Southeast’s most popular folk art and music festivals, and it is located in Summerville, Georgia. Finster Fest 2014 is on May 31st and June 1st and will feature art and live music in Dowdy Park. On that Saturday and Sunday, Finster Fest will host over 50-juried artists, not to mention visitors from around the world. Live Music will be performed by the Van Lears, Thayer Sarrano, Yankee Slickers, 3 and 20, Tracie Victoria Mattox, True Blue, The Strange, Dennis Brown Trio, Daniel Parrish.What began in 1992 as “Howard Finster Day” in Summerville has grown into one of the region's most popular events. Throughout the years, Finster Fest has drawn significant artists from all over the country. Howard Finster was a man with many “visions,” and his art and message had international appeal, drawing thousands from around the world to his Paradise Garden. The Paradise Garden Foundation hopes to continue in Howard’s faith-­‐filled messages with art, and part of those efforts include presenting a community event like no other. On Saturday night, May 31st, the Man Of Vision After Show will take place from 5:00 P.M. to 12 am in historic Downtown Summerville. The show will feature nationally known musical acts to include, Shenandoah, Randall Bramblett Band, The Whiskey Gentry and The Travis Denning Band. The price to attend this show will be $10.00.
The North Georgia Cruisers will also be participating in a historic car cruise that will be amongst artists in Dowdy Park and the surrounding area bringing owners of over 50 classic cars, hotrods, other vintage autos. These classic car cruises have been in existence for over 26 years. Funds raised by the local group to help needy children have Christmas presents. The mission of PGF is to preserve, maintain and showcase Rev. Howard Finster's visionary artistic site, Paradise Garden. The Foundation’s primary goal is to serve as a social, cultural, educational and artistic nexus for the benefit of Chattooga County and the Northwest Georgia region.
