Lubriphonic's Profile

About me:Combine the best elements of old-school funk and edgy rock and roll, throw in some soulful R&B, and you end up with
Lubriphonic greases your ears, moves your hips, and leaves you reeling in sweaty bliss. Simmering and intense, with chops to spare, Lubriphonic’s live performances create a spicy dish that is guaranteed to cure what ails you.

Lubriphonic is the brainchild of guitarist Giles Corey and drummer Rick King and began with a residency at Chicago’s legendary Checkerboard Lounge. They recruited some of the best blues, funk, and rock musicians in the city for these raucous sessions. The result fuses roots music with explosive rock’n’roll and sensuous old-school dance music-- part Stones, part Funkadelic, and part Otis Redding.

Jowesley Boston
Tue 12/11/2007 3:58PM

On Monday December 10, Jowesley Boston passed away after battling cancer. He was our good friend and collaborator of 10 years, performing countless shows with Lubriphonic on the saxophone, as well as recording on our album “Supermoncho.” He was also a touring member of the Ohio Players. Jowesley was a truly gifted musician. He was also a kind, generous, and wonderful human being of buoyant spirit and deep soul-- a solid citizen if there ever was one. It was an honor to share any stage with Jowesley Boston, and an even greater privilege to know him.
