Jason Wilder's Profile

About me:Singer-songwriter Jason Wilder's original style evolved from his unique upbringing- living on the road with a father whose real life persona was like that of a character drawn straight out of an old Hollywood road flick. As a child, Wilder traveled frequently with his father, a fisherman and painter, up and down the East Coast of the American South in search of greener pastures and seasonal employment. The people and places he's experienced along the way have made their way into his unique style.

Wilder’s vocal power and style are frequently compared to the likes of Elton John, Rob Thomas and Harry Chapin and his original music was recently acclaimed by legendary record producer Norbert Putnam, famous for producing Jimmy Buffett's song "Margaritaville" and whose credits include major works that established the popularity of performers such as Jimmy Buffett, Joan Baez and Dan Fogelberg. After hearing Wilder’s demo CD after a chance encounter in 2008, Norbert proclaimed afterwards "I've just heard a great new track by Jason Wilder called 'Whispers of Love'. Keep an ear out for future recordings by this talented young man.”

As a songwriter, Wilder was a top finalist in the 2007 UK World Song Contest for a song he wrote about the Colorado town of Crestone and was also selected as a Top 20 Finalist in the 2005 Unisong World Song Contest. Wilder has also shared the stage with Leon Russell and John Lee Hooker Jr and opened for the Capitol Records based bluegrass rockers Ryan Shupe and the Rubberband at the Hotel Colorado in August of 2007.

In 2009 Wilder received an ASCAP ASCAPlus Award in the Popular Music category from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Performers, an annual award given to promising songwriters whose song catalog has been deemed to have "prestige value" but has not yet received wider commercial recognition.
