Downtown Harvest's Profile
About me:
Drawing inspiration from a wide variety of musical styles, the harvest boys blend neo pop songs with big beat aggressive slam rock; tornado alley hiphop with new wave grunge. They owe as much to joe cocker and nirvana as they do to beck and the b52's. The band performs with an unparallel through the roof raw energy, wowing crowds time and time again. The foundation for the group was built in the winter of 2002 when former high school classmates Bobby Cahill and Tommy Moore ran into each other at the Temple University trainstation in Philadelphia. As another pair of high school friends; drummer Chris Wood, and multi-instrumentalist Frank Ewing entered the mix, it was clear that a fabulous chemistry was in existence, and that the group was something that should be pursued and taken to high heights. The harvest has played over 400 shows since their return to the East Coast in 2006. They have established themselves as one of Philadelphia's premier rock acts with neighborhood shows packed with a wide variety of fans. Their single "Hurry Before Worry" was part of popular radio DJ, ‘Jaxon's 93.3 WMMR Local Shots series’, and received generous airplay throughout the region. 88.5 WXPN aswell, have played their music and named them their featured local artist on several occasions. Half a dozen other songs continue to be played on college radio stations throughout the U.S. and Canada. The group has won national accolades as well, most recently winning Ralph Lauren’s “RalphRocks” music video contest. Their second LP "Golden Dragon" was released in July 2007. Critics have described their sophomore album as “a warm agressive adventure through the past musical decades, a matte start and a glossy finish", with "such versatility it listens as more of a Mixtape rather than one band's album."
