About me:
AFTER A BREIF DELAY….THE BEAUTIFUL GIRLS ARE BACK! Fresh off a one-year ban from the US, The Beautiful Girls resume touring the States in support of their new album, Ziggurats (New York, NY – Oct. 11, 2007) Rewind one year ago – after a successful headline position on the Yellow Snow tour and a support slot with Mofro, The Beautiful Girls are stopped by customs and immigration at the U.S./Canadian border. To the disappointment of fans awaiting the west coast leg of the tour, the band is hit with a one-year ban by the U.S. Government, and a subsequent 10-year penalty for their entrusted tour manager/sound man. Now, the year has passed, and the internationally acclaimed band - now at iconic status in their native Australia - returns to the United States to build on where they left off. The upcoming tour is scheduled in support of their latest record, Ziggurats. Show dates extend across the States, starting in California and culminating in their long-awaited visit to the East Coast with Dispatch compatriots State Radio. Following in the footsteps of their 2006 release We’re Already Gone, Ziggurats is generating international acclaim, including a 4-Star Review in the April issue of Rolling Stone. The record, which hit stores on October 2nd, 2007, has a rock driven feel that symbolizes the bands growth as musicians. The addition of drummer Bruce Braybrooke blends an edgy rock element with the bands carefree surf vibe, giving their sound a sophisticated new direction. Ziggurats channels influential predecessors such as The Police & The Clash, yet still holds the soulful vibe evocative of contemporaries such as Ben Harper, Jack Johnson, and Mason Jennnings. The record, as with all their previous work, was co-produced by frontman Mat McHugh and Ian Pritchett. Some of the new elements to their sound, however, can be attributed to the addition of mixer Mark Needham - renowned for his work with notables such as The Killers, Bloc Party, and Fleetwood Mac. #### SOME BANDS HAVE ROCK EMBEDDED IN THEIR DNA. OTHERS HAVE REGGAE BLOODLINES OR PUNK PARENTAGE. THE BEAUTIFUL GIRLS THUMBPRINT IS A SWIRL OF CHANGE. FROM THEIR FIRST ALBUM TO THEIR THIRD, THE BAND'S CAREEER IS TYPIFIED BY CREATIVE MOVEMENT, AND THE BAND IS NOW KNOWN FOR THEIR GENRE BLURRING SOUND. ULTIMATELY THE BAND WILL BE JUDGED ON THEIR TIMELESS SONGWRITING AND THEIR TECHNICAL NOUS - AN EAR FOR PRODUCTION THAT DOES NOT DATE.
