About me:Mark Stewart - Walnutt

They say this story began in 1969 and Walnutt has little choice other than to accept this for fact.
Okay, so take 1969 and add 15 years, make it 1984. Mark Stewart put down his air guitar and picked up an electric guitar that he bought used from a neighbor kid. The need for a drummer became strong and so Mark built a drum set of buckets, trash cans, old fan cages and junk. Charles Strother, the kid next door, soon earned the nickname "bucket" and title "drummer". Life on Walnutgrove Lane was never the same again. Mark's passion for building skateboard ramps and forts gave way to parties and music.

In 1999, 30 years after this story began, Mark picked up a used guitar once again and formed Walnut Grove Band (WGB), a fairly well-known, ever-changing original roots rock band based in Virginia, near to DC. Soon, Mark became known as Walnutt and was working with various instruments in studio/live settings, producing small events and just generally being an active and artistic songwriting dude. 10+ years of working with several great musicians in Walnut Grove Band has been rewarding and challenging. These days Mark works with other artists, musicians and producers in a collaborative fashion (Walnut Grove Band and Tumbling Run) and with solo projects (Walnutt and Snarlings).

In the studio, Walnutt enjoys working with electric & acoustic guitar, bass guitar, keyboard, synth, percussion, electronic kit drums and drum machines, self-recording, digital photography and video.

Never one to stay still or in one place for too long, Mark is steadily working and evaluating. There's always something happening in the walnutt grove and often it means good times, hard work.

General Interests:I like camping shows of 1,000 folks or less. I like all kinds of music and see no reason why metal, jam, hip-hop, etc can't coexist.

Treehouses rock, I need to complete one and build another!

I like farms and barns and art and trees and water and food and my sweetheart and really appreciate quality.

Interests, I have no shortage of. In fact, I tend to over-do sometimes. I'm working on that.
