About me:Attempting to win the DIY-Artist-of-the-Millennium award, Krist Kruger (a.k.a. Southerly) has decided to follow up 27 months of touring via automobile as a solo artist, by re-releasing his debut LP on Fall Records. Recently dubbed ‘a one man musical army’ by Skratch magazine, Southerly is not what you’d likely expect from your run-of-the mill singer-songwriter. His offerings include signs of great craft while finding a way to stray far outside the traditional verse/chorus structures often dictating the final product of too many modern artists. Still, Southerly is able to avoid the being lost in obscurity by bringing you in with his uniquely memorable style and sense of charm. Southerly began as many musical projects do, in a basement and bedroom, this one in 2003. Touring both solo and now in 2006 as a full band Southerly meddles with both Antifolk, Rock and Alt Country roots while taking cue’s from old-timers the likes of Woody Guthrie, Jimmie Rodgers and Bill Monroe with his gypsy-like touring habits.
