Mastery of one instrument in one style is no small feat for any musician. However, when a musician can play the blues, outlaw country, jazz, rockabilly, funk, country-western, rock, folk and Americana music on electric and acoustic guitars—as well as reggae bass and bluegrass mandolin, along with a variety of styles on the venerable Hammond B2 organ, plus various kinds of music on the Bouzouka, dulcimer, steel guitar, hand percussion and harmonica—then that musician has passed beyond the apprentice/ journeyman/master distinction into the realm of musical fire-keeper. One such walks among us.
