Bandsintown presents Lakeshore Theater's Acoustic Series ft/ The Lifeline, IJ Quinn, and Mark Minelli
The Lifeline - ""Class meets Sass”. Sophistication paired with an attitude that would make James Dean proud and Mozart blush. “I’ve always kind of considered myself to be the sass and Rebecca to be the class,” says vocalist Ryan T. Hope, “I think it’s just in our personalities, and because we put so much of ourselves into the music, it becomes something that’s undeniable.” Emotion drives Ryan T. Hope and Rebecca Faber’s songwriting process and dictates the direction of each note, melody, and section. Their sound undoubtedly proves that the infusion of classical music and rock music can be done, not only in a tasteful manner, but also in a way that can be appealing to a mass audience."

Bandsintown - "Founded in Boston, MA by Todd Cronin and Phil Sergi in 2007, Bandsintown connects live music fans to local live music through personalized recommendations and notifications. The company aggregates concert information and tickets from across the web, and syndicates that information to fans and other websites, blogs, media players and mobile devices through our API affiliate program."

LAKESHORE THEATER DOUBLES THE FUNNY AGAIN WITH THE SKLAR BROTHERS
Standup duo the Sklar Brothers bring their identical twin comedy show back to the Lakeshore Theater on May 13th at 7:30pm and May 14th at 7:30pm. The identical twins not only have a unique “interplay” delivery style, but they also possess an insightful point of view, which has made them favorites of both the mainstream and alternative comedy scenes. In November of 2006, Randy and Jason wrapped their 4th and final season of their critically acclaimed comedy series, Cheap Seats on ESPN Classic. In 77 episodes, the Sklars built a strong following in both the sports and comedy worlds. Currently, they write and appear in a regular segment on ESPN's SportsCenter called, “The Bracket”. They have also appeared on several network shows including It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Entourage and Grey’s Anatomy. Most recently the identical twins have appeared in film Wild Hogs and the Comeback. But standup is where their Wonder Twin power activates, and can be seen on such shows as Comedy Central Presents: The Sklar Brothers. Their unique take on standup penned as "a tag team delivery in which one talks over the end of the other's sentence, completing, adding to or reaffirming his comment (much like the raps of The Beastie Boys)," by the New York Times, leaves audiences doubled-over with laughter. Crowned “Best Place to See Comedy in Chicago” by Chicago Magazine and “Favorite Place for Comedy in Chicago” by MySpace, the Lakeshore boasts a stellar rotation of international superstars, household names and left-field geniuses, representing the best comedy the world has to offer as well as an equally impressive line-up of top flight musicians. With a track record of consistently sold-out shows, the venue is one of the city’s premier entertainment destinations, located at 3175 N. Broadway (at Belmont). The Sklar brothers will perform at Lakeshore Theater on Thursday, May 13th at 7:30pm and Friday, May 14th at 7:30pm,Tickets are $25 and can be purchased by calling 773.472.3492 or online at www.lakeshoretheater.com. 0 Comments :: Permalink :: Fri 2/26/2010 12:34 PM

Patrice O'Neal at The Lakeshore Theater on April 23rd & April 24th

Patrice got his first real taste of stand-up at a place called Estelle's in Boston. He was heckling a comic, and the comic suggested maybe Patrice thought he could do better. Patrice did and the following week he went on stage at Estelle's and brought down the house. From there he went on to work at the Comedy Connection, then moved to working at most of the clubs in and around Boston, New England, and New York. Now, years later, Patrice has a wide range of comic tools

In one bit, Patrice, at 6'5'' and 300+ lbs., makes the audience hear and almost see the story of the eastern European gymnast quietly speaking of her difficult upbringing and training.

The Boston Globe said, "It is a hilarious piece made all the more so by the contradiction between Oneal's very visible presence and that of the young white girl he is playing."

Patrice has appeared on "The Late Show with Conan O'Brien" three times and was a regular on the very popular, Comedy Central's “Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn”. He has also performed stand-up at both the prestigious Montreal Just For Laughs and the HBO U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen. Additionally Patrice has Guest Starred on numerous Television Shows including FOX’s critically acclaimed “Arrested Development” and NBC’s “The Office”. He was also a series regular on FOX’s drama, “The Jury”.

You can hear him voicing the animated shows “Shorties Watchin’ Shorties” on Comedy Central and “O’Grady High” on “Noggin”. Catch Patrice in the films "The 25th Hour" directed by Spike Lee, "In The Cut" with Meg Ryan and "Head Of State" with Chris Rock.

Doug Benson 5/16 @ 4:20pm
It would take too long to cite all of Doug’s credits, but here’s a small sampling: How does a little show called NBC's Last Comic Standing grab you? Fact: he finished top six last season, no big deal. Doug is a series regular on VH-1’s Best Week Ever. He also makes recurring appearances on ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live. On the classic sitcom Friends, he had the nerve to hit on Jennifer Aniston. He has his own half-hour special on Comedy Central, is a recurring character on The Sarah Silverman Program, and oops, almost forgot, got Larry David in a headlock on HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm.

If that's not enough for you, Doug also stars in Super High Me, a documentary about the effects of not smoking marijuana after smoking marijuana for a long period of time. On a similar thematic tip, he’s also a co-creator/writer of The Marijuana-Logues, a show that’s been a hit (small pun intended) in clubs and theatres from Los Angeles to New York—and drawn a bongload of rave reviews. He also expresses his love of movies on superdeluxe.com and in podcasts available on iTunes. Enough about Doug Benson already!

Tickets are $20.00

Jim Jefferies 4.9 - 4.10 @ 7:30pm and 10:30pm

Regarded as one of the fastest rising stars in the comedy world, his brash, confrontational style has made him one of the most sought after comics on the world stage. Jim gets away with jokes that most comedians wouldn't touch due to his ability to both charm and offend the crowd in equal measures. The Herald wrote of Jim, "The Australian doesn't care who he offends, badgering those who resist until they capitulate and join in the laughter, hard hitting and expertly delivered".

Jim returned to the Montreal "Just for Laughs" Comedy Festival this year, wowing audiences with his performances in the Nasty Show, and most notably, his one-hour solo show, fittingly titled "The Second Coming." Jim first appeared at the "Just for Laughs" Festival in 2005, where he performed in the highly acclaimed "Nasty Show," and garnered one of the biggest press articles at the festival. In 2006, Jim made his return to the Edinburgh Festival where "The Second Coming" sold out the entire run.

Comedians You Should Know Show
The Comedians You Should Know Show was founded in January, 2008 with one simple MO: to showcase Chicago's best stand-up comedians. We strongly maintain that the stand-up scene in Chicago is one that is painfully overlooked and under-appreciated. We have some of the hardest working comedians in the country working overtime to prove it to you with this show. We have a rotating roster of hard-working comedians always working on new material, so each show will be completely unique. Anytime you come to one of our shows, you are guaranteed to see a medley of different styles of comedy with only one important commonality: it's funny.

We promise to bring you only the best comedians in Chicago. We are, collectively, COMEDIANS YOU SHOULD KNOW. Tickets are $15. Go to www.lakeshoretheater.com for more details!
