Last night, I went to see Jesco White (The Dancing Outlaw) at the Star Bar in Atlanta. Joecephus and the George Jonestown Massacre opened the show and let me tell you they put on a hell of a show. The guitarist, Joecephus, completely shredded the guitar with super, fast licks and picking/strumming. They even closed their show with a Presidents of the USA cover! I haven't heard the Presidents in years. I enjoyed this band so much that I immediately went and bought one of their albums after the show. The album is "Smothered and Covered" which I am listening to now as I type this.
Now, my live show tastes fall to bands like Pgroove, Phish, WSP, Tea Leaf Green, etc. These guys are certainly not like that but they have a whiff of jazz/jam on top of quick blues, country, rockabilly, and punk...all layered together. They defintely have their own unique sound (at least from my perspective). I will see these guys again when given the chance.
