Andrew W.K. was born Andrew Wilkes-Krier, in Stanford, California, on May 9th, 1979. His mother is Wendy L. Wilkes, and his father is Professor James E. Krier (legal scholar and co-author of the widely used Dukeminer & Krier casebook, "PROPERTY"). When Andrew was 4 years old, his family moved to Michigan, and Professor Krier began teaching at the University of Michigan Law School, in Ann Arbor.
